CHALLANGE TIME!!! 5 STARS FOR THE BEST ANSWER!?

The meadow seemed still under the glowering sky. Soon it would rain, and even the insects knew it. At a glance, blue flowers a foot high seemed one continuous blanket, but on closer approach he saw grass, mallow, pigweed, and the tiny yellow flowers of groundsel invading the uniformity. Spring had been very damp, and the places where nothing had yet taken root were muddy enough to suck at his shoes. Maybe he should have gone around. When he felt the silvery lance of pain, and glimpsed the red-and-yellow of the venomous snake, he knew he'd made a mistake. No one found him for weeks, since the weeds, well-watered, sprang waist high by week's end, a beautiful meadow..
